BNSF Orin Line Model Railroad Photo Series

Here's some construction photos of my Orin Line model railroad.  I started in early 2007 and worked on it for about a year and a half.  After building 2 small model railroads, I wanted to build something a little bigger, yet portable.  I had a couple designs for a longer 12 or 14 foot version which would have forced me to build 2 sections.  I decided instead to build a single seamless table 10 feet in lenght.  I finished my basement just prior to starting this project and became very fond of the 4x10 size of drywall sheets which gave me the idea.

I am disappointed that Kato never produced their AC4400 in Southern Pacific colors since there were many of them.  I settled for the next best thing and acquired the dash 9.  I updated this unit to a more contemporary UP patched version.

Weathered RBOX Boxcar

My model railroad project is in my garage which unfortunately is very cold lately.  I decided to do some indoor projects instead and spent some time weathering some rolling stock.  I rarely spend time on rolling stock since the model railroad seems to get most of my attention.  Here is a Railbox car with graffiti and plenty of weathering applied.

My First Complete N Scale Model Railroad

Here are some photos of my first complete model railroad in N scale that I completed back in 2003.  These were taken with a new at the time Canon point and shoot 3.2 megapixel camera.  Wow have things changed since then.  You can get a better camera on a cheap cell phone these days. 

Rocky Mountain Subdivision Model Railroad Photo Series

Here is a photo series illustrating the construction of my Rocky Mountain Sub model railroad.  I started this layout back in 2004.  The objective of this project was to experiment with mountain scenery.  This is only a fraction of the photos taken, however, these show the basic milestones from start to finish.  This project was also somewhat of a proof of concept to see how much model railroading could be done in a small space, but with a simple track plan.

The Genesis of my N Scale Model Railroad Blog

I am an N scale addict, and have been for several years now.  I have decided to create a blog to share my addiction with others.  My intention is to not spend hours at my computer blogging about model railroading, but rather spend my hours model railroading and occasionally share some relevant topics.  I anticipate that this blog will be under construction for the next several weeks as I add some content and photos.  Thank you for reading and I hope you become an addict like me if you're not already.
